Amazon can now buy products from other websites for you

Amazon has begun testing a new AI-powered feature called “Buy for Me”, allowing users to purchase products from third-party websites directly within the Amazon mobile app. This tool is designed to streamline online shopping by letting Amazon’s AI handle the checkout process on external websites.

🔍 How It Works:

When users tap the “Buy for Me” button on eligible products, Amazon’s AI system:

  • Navigates to the external retailer’s website,

  • Automatically fills in payment and shipping details on the user’s behalf,

  • Completes the purchase securely without leaving the Amazon app.

The process is encrypted and handled entirely through Amazon’s system, making it seamless and convenient for users. The feature is currently being tested with a limited group of users in the U.S., on both iOS and Android devices.

📦 Order Tracking and Support:

  • Users can track their third-party orders directly in the Amazon app.

  • For returns or customer service, they’ll still need to contact the original seller.

  • Retailers can opt out of the program if they prefer not to participate.

🤖 A Bigger AI Strategy

This feature builds on Amazon’s broader AI shopping initiative, which also includes Rufus, their conversational AI shopping assistant. Together, these tools are reshaping how users discover, evaluate, and purchase products online.
